Rutgers University Art Library Lego Playing Station
August 2014– Present
In August of 2014 the Art Library installed the Rutgers University Art Library Lego Playing Station. This station has been the catalyst for many events, contests, course assignments, and workshops. These events have included a Block Party, Create your own Lego Character coloring contest, Create your ideal Lego Library, a Lego workshop with 5 Academic Coaches form the Rutgers Learning Centers, a project with 18 SAS Honors students, a Rutgers Geek Week event, NJ Makers Day event, Rutgers Day, and collaborative project with 100 freshman from the Rutgers Landscape Architecture department who experience the Lego Playing Station as a means to connect to their library liaison to learn more about the libraries. The Art Library Lego Playing Station has also received positive press from Rutgers Today who created and a video about the space, and the Daily Targum ran images of models made at the Art Library Lego Playing Station. The Art Librarian, Megan Lotts, was interviewed about the Lego Playing Station on the radio show, Lost in the Stacks: The Research Library Rock “n” Roll Show. Over 800 digital images have been captured of models made and events based around the Art Library Lego Playing Station.
